Welcome to Sunshine Playgroup
Sunshine is an independent playgroup in London in South Hampstead for babies, toddlers and children under the age of five. We offer a unique, fun and varied programme of parent and toddler classes as well as after-school activities and school holiday clubs for older children. They are: Pre-nursery classes, Art classes, and Cookery classes.
Sunshine was started by Agnieszka Siedlecka in 2002 and over the past 13 years, she has poured her heart and soul into the playgroup, building up a great reputation in the area and a loyal following of children and parents who return term after term. Agnieszka’s motto has always been “Small groups, big ideas” therefore the environment at Sunshine is intimate, friendly and relaxed. The purpose-built room and kitchen overlooking the garden are a huge advantage.
Why Sunshine is different
Unlike other playgroups, all of Sunshine sessions are kept to a maximum of ONLY EIGHT children per class. We believe that small groups work for the benefit of the children and help them feel more secure. There are always two teachers present.
The teacher can devote more time and attention to each child’s individual needs, thus creating an environment, which encourages both learning and personal growth.
Our regular classes are booked in blocks of 10-12, depending on the term, which allows the same group of children to meet together each week. This gives the children an opportunity to build relationships with other children/carers and with the teachers.
We welcome parents and carers to join in our classes and we take pride in the familiar and friendly environment of our playgroup. Tea/coffee and biscuits are provided to give them a little break from a busy life of looking after their little ones.
All of our staff know children and adults personally and take a great interest in the children’s development and progress. For more information about activities at Sunshine Playgroup in South Hampstead, please have a look at “Our Classes” and Sunshine Food Policy.

Meet Sunshine Team
I studied a Masters in childcare in my home city of Gdańsk, Poland, before coming to North London to be a nanny in 1999. In 2002 I decided to fulfill my dream of setting up a playgroup, and with a head full of ideas, I embarked on an interesting and challenging journey. After over 14 years, I enjoy my job more than ever and I am proud that Sunshine is still shining brightly. I strongly believe that limiting the group sizes to only eight children, combined with employing amazing teachers who, like me, genuinely love working with children, is the key to success.
All of our classes have proved very popular; I hope they continue to do so and I look forward to sharing my enthusiasm with you and your littlle ones. In the last few years I have been helping local charities such as Kids Company and Cocoon Family Support. http://cocoonfamilysupport.org/
I am a French/Tunisian musician, artist and mother of two girls from North London. With a background in libraries and a passion for inclusion, I am fascinated by the creative potential of under-fives and I seek to encourage adults to interact positively with their young children using a wealth of cultural references. I enjoy interacting with under-fives and watching their imagination at play through music, storytelling and art.
I run the weekly ‘Baby singalong’ at Kentish Town Health Centre. I have also recently been selected for a LEYMN apprenticeship through which I am planning to develop myself as an early years educator and musician.
I am from Brazil and I have been living in London for eight years.
I have had a varied career from being a mum of four (my proudest qualification) to marketing in a children’s shoe company.
I have always loved working with children and I am delighted working at Sunshine doing what I love best – caring for children and cooking.
